Fox's Blog http://www.pokerxfactor.com/problog/fox 1368120279 Vegas Summer Tournaments http://www.pokerxfactor.com/problog/view/101027/?t=pxf A few people have asked about my summer schedule and asked advice about what they should be playing when they go out to the World Series of Poker. I set my own schedule a few weeks ago, covering as many mixed game events as possible in the 31 days I’ll be in Vegas, with some no-limit events at the Rio, mostly $1,500 bracelet events. If you, like most players, won’t be in Vegas for more than a week or two, you’ll want to make the most of your time in town and you’ll be hoping to make some money... Thu, 09 May 2013 13:24:39 -0400 Where the Heck is Fox? http://www.pokerxfactor.com/problog/view/101012/?t=pxf I know it's been awhile since I had any content up on PXF. My apologies. Other projects have taken up my time lately and this is the busiest time of the year for the Mid-States Poker Tour, so my job as their ambassador has kept me on the road a lot lately. I'm still playing, still grinding, and still paying the bills, mostly playing live games and live tournaments. I'm also still writing a column for Bluff every month and finding time for the podcast every week. Add in my gig with Grinder U doing seminars and strategy, and pile some private students on top of that, and I don't seem to have a free moment... Sat, 16 Mar 2013 19:49:57 -0400 NBC Heads UP Championship Field Announced http://www.pokerxfactor.com/problog/view/100992/?t=pxf So the field for the NBC Heads Up Championship was announced today. Like any list of the top performers in a field, there are lots of disagreements, but the list is definitely comprised of solid players. There are certainloy a few players who aren't in the top 100 heads up players in the world (see Jennifer Tilly and Chris Moneymaker), but it's not just a championship, it's a television show and there has to be some compromise. Anyone up for some sort of fantasy draft? 1- Baumann, Gaelle2- Bellande, Jean Robert3- Bloch, Andy4- Blom, Viktor5- Boeree, Liv6- Bonomo, Justin7- Brunson, Doyle8- Busquet, Olivier9- Cates, Daniel10- Charania, Mohsin11- Cheong, Joseph12- Deeb, Shaun13- Duhamel, Jonathan14- Dwan, Tom15- Elezra, Eli16- Esfandiari, Antonio17- Failla, Will18- Frankenberger, Andy19- Galfond, Phil20- Glantz, Matt21- Greenstein, Barry22- Grospellier, Bertrand23- Harman, Jennifer24- Hastings, Brian25- Haxton, Isaac26- Hellmuth, Phil27- Hennigan, John28- Ho, Maria29- Ivey, Phil30- Jaka, Faraz31- Julius, Kyle32- Katchalov, Eugene33- Laak, Phil34- Lamb, Ben35- Lichtenberger, Andrew36- Matros, Matt37- Matusow, Mike38- Mercier, Jason39- Merson, Greg40- Mizrachi, Michael41- Moneymaker, Chris42- Monnette, John43- Moorman, Chris44- Mortensen, Carlos45- Negreanu, Daniel46- Oppenheim, David47- Raymer, Greg48- Rousso, Vanessa49- Salaburu, Rob50- Salsberg, Matt51- Schulman, Nick52- Seed, Huck53- Seidel, Erik54- Seiver, Scott55- Serock, Joe56- Sexton, Mike57- Simon, Sam58- Smith, Dan59- Smith, Justin60- Somerville, Jason61- Tilly, Jennifer62- Timoshenko, Yevgeniy63- Williams, David64- WSOP... Fri, 18 Jan 2013 14:35:59 -0500 Ambassador Fox http://www.pokerxfactor.com/problog/view/100965/?t=pxf Ambassador Fox! It sounds like a dimplomatic title of some sort, like I should be taking poker to new cultures and working out disputes on international tournament rules. In reality, I signed on today as the ambassador for the Mid-States Poker Tour. I already loved the tour and was the commentator on their final table broadcasts, but now I am the official ambassador. Any PXFers who want to talk poker (no bad beat stories, seriously) can drop by the staff table, pick up a signed copy of my book, and get advice on a hand or two... Thu, 01 Nov 2012 21:13:58 -0400 FeltStars Shuts Down Part 1 http://www.pokerxfactor.com/problog/view/100955/?t=pxf I know a few PXF subscribers were playing on FeltStars, so this is probably a good place to talk about what happened with the site. The site shut down yesterday morning, with a blurb on their website referring players to other Merge network partners. I am told that player funds are safe and will be transferred to whatever skin they choose. Let me start by saying that I left the site a week ago, and no matter how hard I pushed since the problems started, I was never able to get any real info about what was happening from the owners of the site... Wed, 10 Oct 2012 21:30:55 -0400 Leaving FeltStars http://www.pokerxfactor.com/problog/view/100948/?t=pxf When I signed with FeltStars a few months ago, I thought I had finally found the right place. I would be rewarded for bringing in players, I was able to work with the pro team and affiliate program to teach all the pros how to market themselves, and I would have a place to play online again on a regular basis. It sounded too good to be true, but my agent said it was a solid deal, so I took it. As it turned out, it was too good to be true. Getting paid was impossible, all kinds of shady things popped up about the site in the past, and I couldn't get anything done... Mon, 01 Oct 2012 03:06:38 -0400 Back Home! http://www.pokerxfactor.com/problog/view/100912/?t=pxf After 49 days in Vegas, I'm finally back home in Minnesota. It's 78 degrees here, my wife and my dogs are here, and I'm sleeping in my own bed. Who would have thought I would be so happy to be in Minnesota? The road gets old, even when I'm in a city I like (Vegas), and after a rough summer where I had a bunch of close calls and no big win, I am very happy to be back to the same old grind. I'll be playing three tournaments a week unless there are special events happening for the near future - Running Aces Harness Park has great $150 tournaments every Tuesday and Thursday nights with excellent structures that rate around a 10 on our Tournament Efficiency Rating at TourneyTracks... Wed, 18 Jul 2012 13:59:01 -0400 $10k HORSE Day 1 http://www.pokerxfactor.com/problog/view/100892/?t=pxf Short blog today because I have to be back at the Rio for the restart tomorrow at 2 pm and it's already 4 am. That's good news though, it means I'm still in the $10k HORSE. Better than that, I have 56k and average is only 40k, so I'm in reasonably good shape. The field is tough, and I had to deal with Jason Mercier, Abe Mosseri, Scotty Nguyen, Daniel Alai, Jen Harmon and Carlos Mortensen today. Probably a bunch of other known players at my second table that I didn't recognize, most played well and knew each other... Sun, 17 Jun 2012 06:40:59 -0400 Reviews http://www.pokerxfactor.com/problog/view/100891/?t=pxf I know, I took a few days off. Quit whining. I busted 17th in the WSoP Razz event for $5,900, and unfortunately it was to Phil Hellmuth who went on to win his twelfth bracelet later that night. And in case you were wondering, I was ahead when we got most of the chips in, but I didn't stomp off whining about how I should win every event but the donkeys always put beats on me. Grrr. I played the $1,500 HORSE yesterday and managed not to win a single pot. With 4,500 starting chips you don't last long if you don't win a single pot, and I was out in the third level... Fri, 15 Jun 2012 18:00:06 -0400 Razz with Hellmuth http://www.pokerxfactor.com/problog/view/100889/?t=pxf Yet another short blog because I made it through another day of the Razz event. We come back with 18 left tomorrow at 2. That's the good news. The bad news is that I'm short stacked after losing a couple big hands. I was up to 170k a few hours before the end of the day, but ended the day with 54k. Still a fighting chance, but a little annoying to run bad when so much cash is on the line. I played a lot with Phil Hellmuth today, and had a number of conversations with him. I've had a pretty negative impression of Phil, but he was personable and a number of people have told me he's a good person, which I saw today... Sun, 10 Jun 2012 06:50:04 -0400
