But I still love poker and wanted to play online when I had free time. So on August 1st, I deposited $250 on the Merge Network and decided I would play some small stakes cash games. A little background.....This was not my first time playing online cash games - I have played online cash over the years (as high as 2/4 or 400NL but mostly at 1/2 or 200NL) and been somewhat successful but always loved tournaments more. Since Black Friday I have been playing a lot more live cash too... Sat, 01 Sep 2012 09:50:46 -0400 WSOP http://www.pokerxfactor.com/problog/view/100880/?t=pxf I leave for Las Vegas in about 17 hours and this will be my second time at the WSOP. My first trip was back in 2010 where I managed a respectable $14k score and 33rd place in the $3K Triple Chance event. And although I don't usually care about what happens after I bust an event, in that event I actually went back and watched the entire final table. For those that may not know or don't remember, this was the event that was won by PXF's own Ryan Welch.I didn't know Ryan that well at the time, it was the first time I was meeting him in person actually, but I had hired him to work for PXF and it was really cool to see him take home the gold... Thu, 31 May 2012 18:51:24 -0400 More Live Poker & New Video Series http://www.pokerxfactor.com/problog/view/100831/?t=pxf So the WSOPC at Caesars event ended without fanfare and no deep runs by your truly. One good thing that came out of that series was that I got back to the cash game tables for the first time since December. Motivated by my cash game results throughout the WSOPC, I started making regular trips to PARX Casino in PA. They always have a ton of 1/2NL games going and the games are generally very good. I'm happy to say I will be playing in these games a lot more often now. With all the cash games fresh in my mind, I recently began a new ongoing video series covering these Live Low Stakes No Limit games... Sun, 15 Apr 2012 11:07:43 -0400 WSOPC Update http://www.pokerxfactor.com/problog/view/100796/?t=pxf With five events in the books, I have gotten off to a slow start this series. I have made three dinner breaks but never really built any significant stacks or had any chances to make a Day 2 yet. Today is a $345 6 max event which should be fun. The structures for these prelims are very good. There are some crazy blind levels (50/75 for example) but I think the slow early structure encourages more recreational players to enter. Hopefully, I'll be giving a full trip report of my first WSOPC victory before the series is over! Time to make the donuts... Wed, 07 Mar 2012 11:55:27 -0500 WSOPC - Caesars AC http://www.pokerxfactor.com/problog/view/100794/?t=pxf Heading to AC tomorrow for the start of the WSOPC at Caesars. Should be a good series and I'm looking to improve on my 9th place finish in December....You can follow the entire WSOPC series at www.wsop.com and you can track my chipcount updates @mscell on Twitter.Good luck to all of you who are playing! - Mark Wed, 29 Feb 2012 23:46:42 -0500 Update http://www.pokerxfactor.com/problog/view/100769/?t=pxf We are into the second month of 2012 already? Where does the time go? Let me catch you up from my last blog entry. I took time off from poker after the WSOPC ended in December. The break was very nice and I enjoyed time with family and friends. When I say a "break from poker", I mean playing poker. I'm always somewhat immersed in poker each daythanks to PXF. I enjoyed the NFL playoffs each weekend in January - having some friends over to hang out and watch the games when possible. Then it was time to get back to the poker tables... Mon, 06 Feb 2012 12:08:42 -0500 WSOPC - Harrahs AC http://www.pokerxfactor.com/problog/view/100701/?t=pxf I am going to squeeze in one more poker trip before Christmas. I will be heading back to AC to play in the WSOPC at Harrahs starting on Decmber 1st. I had a great time at the Borgata Fall Poker Open and thought I played my best poker in the $500 Bounty Six Max event and the Main Event. I correctly fired three barrels holding Q high to win a pot, successfully called down three streets with K high to win a pot, and successfully called a river jam with TT on a 9297A (with three clubs showing) after flatting a three bet preflop and check/calling bets on the flop and turn... Tue, 29 Nov 2011 11:42:02 -0500 Borgata, Foxwoods, Disney http://www.pokerxfactor.com/problog/view/100676/?t=pxf So I didn't make any noise at the WPT Borgata event back in September. But the tournaments were great (both in their structures and field sizes) and I managed to have some fun hanging out with ToniSinz, Sandler1860, Becomelegendary, Gutshtallin, and Sheets. (Or Tony, Jerry, Scott, Ryan, and Eric as they are known in real life....)And since we shouldn't be results oriented when we play this game, I didn't let my Borgata losing streak get the best of me. Instead I msged ToniSinz to see if he was going to be at Foxwoods in October and to see if he wanted to split a room... Wed, 02 Nov 2011 15:56:17 -0400 Borgata Poker Open http://www.pokerxfactor.com/problog/view/100630/?t=pxf Tomorrow marks the start of the WPT Borgata Poker Open. I plan on playing about 5-10 events including the $3500 Main Event. Last year I had planned a similar schedule but ended up only playing one event. Illness and scheduling changes with my children washed out the rest of my plans. This year things will be better. I have my hotel rooms booked and my parents are dog sitting and helping out with the kids. I'm not staying in Atlatic City for the entire series but since I only live an hour away, I can go back and forth when needed... Tue, 06 Sep 2011 23:14:03 -0400 CHANGES TO PXF AND AUGUST CALENDAR http://www.pokerxfactor.com/problog/view/100605/?t=pxf We will be making some changes to the PXF video release schedule over the next few months. The goal will be to provide a diverse video lineup that covers different buyin levels, game types, instructors and video types. We will be trying new concept videos and looking for your feedback to see what works and what doesn't. Things have gotten a little stale as we worked through the events of Black Friday and the slower video months due to the WSOP. YOU CAN EXPECT THAT TO CHANGE!Beginning in September, we will be providing you with a full training and instructional schedule two months at a time... Tue, 02 Aug 2011 10:18:29 -0400
