Scott Clements' Blog

Too Long since my last Blog

Posted by Scott Clements on Thursday, November 18th 2010 3:14 pm

I have gone forever since my last blog. Apologies.

Since then I had a very frustrating World Series of Poker. I played the 50k Players Championship, which I ran deep in again this year, only to lose 3 straight stud pots when I was well above average. By this time the blinds were big, and all 3 went to the river. I was left short, and couldnt recover. Frustrating start to WSOP. I usually play every day, and this yeaar was no different, i bubbled a few, including blowing a big shiplead HU in the shootout event, and had 2 small cashes. One in the 1500 Stud 8 event, and also cashed in the 10k HU event. I played about 25 events for a disappointing prelim WSOP.

In the main event day one didnt go my way, and although I had a decent first table, I ended the day with 21k from a 30k start stack. I got all in Twice on day 2, JJ vs A10 all in pre, and KK vs AQ on a QJ9 board. From then on it was smooth sailing, and I built my stack every day until day 7 without having all my chips in the middle. I took a couple coolers and bad beats preflop. My AA lost to 1010 all in pre against my opponent. and had KK in bb when someone reshoved 25 bb's with AA. These were both on day 6 i believe, and lost both.

I got lucky on day 7 when my Ak beat KK to double up, and built a big stack from there. I made a bad call with KK vs Joseph Cheong that they showed on TV ( i was visibly frustrated, but with myself, not him).

On day 8 with 27 left, my game plan was to play a lot of pots, and be aggressive, I believed most players would be playing snug, trying to get into the November 9. i did not hit many hands, some bluffs worked, some failed, and I was left with 25 BBs when we got down to the final 18. mizrachi raised to 485k from the Hijack, and I had 4.9 mill on button with AQ, I elected to reshove all in, and jarvis had AK in the blinds and knocked me out. Doubt anything will be more painful in my poker career, than to get so close, only to bust before the Final table.

Since then I have played a few events with at least one cash. I played in the 2.5 mill 2k event in Oklahoma. i made it thru to the money on day one, but busted day two after losing a flip for half me stack, then running into AA.

I played the WPT main at the Bike with no Cash, and have been playing the NAPT events this past week. I busted the 5k HU after winning my first match, then losing my next two. I made it semi deep in 545 8game, and 3k tournaments to bust before the money, and busted day one in the main real early.

I also played the 5k 81 player bounty shootout. I got short early, then doubled twice, and had playable stack. At this point one player had busted. Then i got the next 3 bounties, and played table captain. 5 handed we had two shortstacks, and i didnt get either bounty, but still had sizeable chiplead 3 handed. I raised button with 22 to 3500 with 90k BB reraised to 10k with 75k total (225K CHIPS IN PLAY) I elected to flat in Position and set mine/decide if my 22 was good on some flops. Flop was beautiful with a 1082cc. He led 12-14k. I flat called. turn was the 4d, and he jammed. i was in great shape against his 99, until the dealer paused for cameras to come over and see the 9 on the river. I was left short, and lost a flip to same player when his 22 held. I got 3k for my 3 bounties, and headed home.

I played the 1585 bounty at commerce last night, and will be playing FTOPS, and a few events in LA before heading home for Thanksgiving.

In other news, my wife is pregnant with our first baby. it is a boy, and is due january 28th. hopefully he gets some of the tall genes my wife has in her side of our family.

FTOPS SCOOP failures continue

Posted by Scott Clements on Tuesday, May 18th 2010 2:29 pm

Over my long online career, I have played many of the online tournament series. Including most FTOP's, and many SCOOP/WCOOP events. I believe that I will have the record of most cashes in these events without a final table. I have taken some real bad beats, and had my close shots, but never broke thru for a win, or even a final table. (the worst being my 11th Place finish in WCOOP championship a couple years back).

This year was no different than the past. I had a frustrating month, with no real close calls. Had a few cashes, but none in the bigger events I played. Best I did was top 32 in the HU event. Went 0-6 in the Omaha Hilo events, which is quite disappointing. On top of that cash games went poorly, and my HORSE's did not have the month I was hoping for.

I am very much looking forward to the summer and the WSOP. it seems to be my best time of the year financially year in and year out. This year starts with the 50k Players Championship Event. I am quite excited for this, and feel very confident in my all around game.

I will be loading up on videos over the next week, so if you have any requests, please let me know.

i have new Goals for 2010, and they are lofty as usual...

Posted by Scott Clements on Tuesday, April 7th 2009 1:07 am

Since April started i have been playing at the Bellagio, for some of their prelims for the WPT Championship. They have been extraordinarily small fields, but I still believe they have some value in them. I am 0 for 5 in them so far, with 2 semi bubbles...

A Win, Finally

Posted by Scott Clements on Wednesday, March 11th 2009 3:57 pm

Just finished up playing my 8th live tournament of the year. Been a bit sick, and busy, so my schedule has been quite slow. I am going to pick it up through the next couple months before the WSOP, and got a decent start to the year.

My wife and I flew down to Las Vegas to play one event before heading off to Ogden, utah to watch my brother in law's Conference Championship...

Erased my last bLog !!!

Posted by Scott Clements on Tuesday, March 3rd 2009 4:41 pm

i typed a real long blog explaining why I missed most of the LAPC, but it erased it all because they started doing updates or something while I was typing. I get frustrated easily, so I will have to give the short reason.

I was planning on playing all the great events at the LAPC towards the end...

Posted by Scott Clements on Friday, February 13th 2009 4:48 pm

I Recently made a quick trip to LA, to play 3 preliminary events at the LA Poker Classic.

The first event I played was a 2k NLH event. 2 key hands led to my demise there, both time holding QQ.

First hand I had QQ, and after UTG limper, I made it 400 to go, everyone folded but the limper...

First off let me say how excited i am to be a part of PokerXfactor, and the Great team of pros they have. I have battled them in all sorts of tournaments, both online and live, and feel very honored to be a part of the PokerXFactor team.

As a pro here i plan to do everything I can to give my perspective on mainly No limit holdem, and Pot limit Omaha(both straight high, and HiLo varieties)...
