Fox's Bankroll Builder Project

Getting Started
Saturday, May 17th 2008 4:09 pm

After doing some research, it appears that I will be starting off on Stars. Stars was the last place I expected to be playing cash games, but a few things make Stars the obvious choice for a new player.

Stars has the right limits ($.02/.05) for my $100 bankroll, and there are tons of games.

I found a great bonus offer for Stars that will get me $75 in bonus money on my $100 depost. The offer is here - http://www.bonuswhores.com/pokerstars/ and I know the folks at bonuswhores.com are solid so it will work correctly. The bonus all drops at once in 500 Frequent Player Points, and I'll do a little research on how long it takes to earn those 500 FPP's today. I imagine at the very lowest limits it will be slow going, but that extra $75 will be nice when I get it.

Of course I already have a Stars account, so it will be simulated money that I will add to the bankroll when I have earned 500 FPP's. For those of you who already have a Stars account you may want to wait for the next phase to see where the best place is to get started. I'll be researching where to go after I get the bonus from Stars soon, and I'm sure the best option won't be to stay at Stars.

I won't be reveling my screen name on Stars here in the blog because I really don't want to be playing at a table full of solid players who moved down to play with me, I want to actually play the games and be able to write a realistic guide to beating them. PXF members probably already know my Stars name, it isn't a big secret, but I would appreciate it if you didn't join me at the tables if you are a solid player, it will skew howI view these tables and mess up the accuracy of the guides. You'll have lots of oppurtunity to play with me in the member's tourneys on Monday.

I'm also looking in to AHK scripts for Stars today, and should have a full report on how I'll be starting within a day or two.

No-limit is almost certainly faster at the micro-limits, the expert's advantage is just so big in big bet poker that it will be much more profitable compared to the size of my bankroll at the micro-limits.

I have money on Stars already, I'll just be keeping track of the bankroll using a friend's bankroll tracking application and pokertracker.

I'll be interested in seeing if you get a lot more badbeats in the micro low limits. I would also wonder what would be faster in the low limits on building the bankroll ... limit or no limit.

I will definitely be posting screen shots of my info from HM, but I will have to look in to exactly how I would post a copy of my database and whether that is acceptable to do. Posting an entire database might be against Stars T&C.

I was just thinking, and this may be way too much extra work, but it would be cool if you posted a copy of your HM database every now and then for the project (assuming you are using a separate database). That way we could literally step through every hand you played. Like maybe if you did it once a month, or every other month in addition to the updates.

"Of course I already have a Stars account, so it will be simulated money that I will add to the bankroll when I have earned 500 FPP's."

It's just a first deposit bonus. Rather than get her a bonus, just find her a good place for rakeback, it's a lot less hassle. You might want to try pokerwhip.com and get her an account there.

Fox, that is a first deposit bonus is it not? I don't think it is a reload bonus, so are you going to start a new account?
