The Other Shoe Falls

I finally hit an ugly downswing, one of those nights where you just know that the guy who always calls has just rivered the nuts on you again. I actually finished one session down $25.05, and if I had lost another $10 I was going to move back down to $.01/.02. Luckily I had a $9 winning session since then, so I'm feeling a little better about it. I also had a nice upswing before the plummet, so even after the terrible losing session I still have a profit of about $45.
Here is the current graph.

I also did some research in to fixed-limit Hold'em as part of the project, and the games are incredibly weak. I played a bit to get my feet wetand was reminded why I don't play fixed-limit Hold'em for a living any more, the swings are just incredible.
When I checked in to how many FPP's I was earning and how much rake I was paying I discovered that I'm getting basically nothing back from Stars at these levels. I've paid $13 in rake in 4,200 hands, and I get nothing back from Stars, so I'll probably be researching the games on other sites to see if it is worth switching this early. I may discover that I should have started somewhere else and just make recommendations based on that knowledge in the guides I'm working on.

| Spyd, you will have an answer to that within a few days when I probably switch to Cake. AllTheChips, are you not a PXF member? I'm answering questions in the forum dedicated to the project if you have questions, and if you aren't a member, I am currently playing 9 man because it's easier to play a bunch of tables that way. | |

| I much appreciate what you are doing, but I wish there were more details. For example, are you playing 6-max or 9 tables. I decided to open an account at Poker Stars and put in $50. It took me awhile to get RealTime Hud and Auto-Hot Key Programs working, so I initially lost about $5.00 on my first day. Today is the second day and I am back over $50. However, it looks like I only have 5 FFP's, so it will take forever at .01-02. How much would I have to make before I can move up to the next limit?? Luckily, I already owned Poker Tracker, so I am not counting that as an expense. I started out with three tables, and I am very comfortable at that level--could probably try to add a fourth. Any further suggestions??? Thanks-- | |
