WSOP Report -- June 20th.

Today's event, #37 $2k PL Holdem, drew about 650 players and will pay 65 or so. It started good. A pro kept trying to push me off my tens and I kept calling and went to 7k early (started with 4k). After the break, I had a long run of folding, playing just a few pots and was down to 4k or so but then called a raiser and flat caller from the BB with KJ. Flop was Jack high, original raiser lead pretty big and he was flat called again, I re-potted all-in and they folded and I went into the break with 8k.

I was determined to use my incredible tight image after the break and things went well ... I was quickly up to almost 12k. I picked up AQ in the small blind with blinds 150/300 (I think) and I potted it when it folded to me. The BB called. He was the chip leader at the table. Flop was AKx and I potted again. He flat called. Turn was a blank and I bet out but didn't pot it. That was my tragic mistake. If I was sure I wasn't folding, then I have to pot there. He flats and a King hits the river. I should add that there were two flush draws on the board but they missed on the river.

I check, he bets 4k ... it was the perfect value bet. I had seen him already make a number of moves on people and there were tons of draws that he could have missed. So I payed him off and he tabled KJ. Ugh. But, since I had decided I like the turn card, why didn't I pot it? I made a good bet there but a pot bet should get him out of the hand. My bad.

I was down to a little below 1k chips but miracle of miracles I build it back up to 4600 when I got KKs. I repotted an early position raiser when a big stack repotted again and then the original raisers called. I knew one of the had aces. Original raiser tables QQ and the big stack showed AA. No one sucks out and I'm out. Booo. I could have been back to 10k ... but that's what they all say.

Playing in event 39 tomorrow ... a $1500 NLH.
