Cake Guide Input Needed
Tuesday, June 24th 2008 1:33 am |
I'm nearly done with teh guide to Cake micro-limit games, and I want to hear about any problems people are having at those games so I can include them in the guide. Feel free to respond to this blog or post in the bankroll building forum, I'll check both before I finish the article. I would also love to hear any advice that you might have for other players concerning those games, and any resources or link that you think are particularly good for beating micro-limits or playing on Cake.
EDIT - I've decided to post the rough draft of the guide in the forums and let people comment on it before I put it up. Please drop by the bankroll builder forum and give it a look, commetns appreciated.
If anyone is interested in watching, I have changed my Cake screen name to pokerxfox and I am happy to have you watch, but please don't sait down at my tables just because I'm there, I want to be playing teh tables as they are normlly, not packed full of PXF sharks. I will be changing my name once a week, as Cake allows, and I recommend that you do the same. If your opponents have notes on you, and you can create a new name that they don't know is you, it takes away their advantage.
I've been tracking my FPP's tonight, and it appears I am getting about 18 FPP's per hour, which translates to $1 per hour in bonus cleared on top of the nice rakeback.
Current Bankroll $168.47 (not including about $3 in rakeback that is coming.

I haven't dealt with either of those deposit services, I just deposited with my bank debit card, and luckily for me I don't ever have to deposit much so I'm not familiar with ways of getting money into online poker sites. I withdraw by check at pretty much every site I play at and that seems to work fine other than occasional delays from Full Tilt or Bodog.
Great to hear you are having some success AllTheChips! If you are doing that well on Stars it may be worthwhile to play there a while longer, but the rakback and player rewards, along with the really loose games, might make it more profitable to play at Cake. There is no tracking software allowed, which is a big part of why the games are so soft, the grinders stay away for the most part.
There is basically no tracking software I have found that works well there, and anything with a HUD is against the rules anyway. You can use something like pokercharts.com or a simple spreadsheet to keep track of your own wins and losses, but that's the best option I know of. If you are really attached to using tracking software (I know how much easier life is when you can use PT3 or Hold'em Manager) then you would be better off at Full Tilt or one of the other sites where you can get rakeback. Check pokerscout.com for the traffic on the networks that you can play on and progrinders.com for a ton of rakeback offers. Then you can find a site where you can get rakeback and play lots of games while using tracking software. It won't be as soft as Cake, but it might be just as profitable because of the software.
I wouldn't cover 6max games if it were just me doing this, because I think it's easier to play a bunch of tables of full ring and requires less of my attention, but I have heard a lot of people playing 6max, and honestly my tables have been short handed half the time anyway, so I'll add some 6max stuff to the guide.
Most of the stuff in the guide, which is posted in the forums already, will apply to 6max games too.
Thanks so much for all your help. It is great learning from you.
