The SNG set up
Thursday, July 17th 2008 3:43 pm |
I must admit I'm cheating a little bit on this one by using programs I already had on my computer. I'm using Hold'em Manager and the Sharkscope HUD (As far as I can tell this program is allowed on FTP, but if you know differently please email me the link that says it is not). The two programs are invaluable to me while playing sng's, and if you are playing more than a few sng's per day the sharkscope HUD is well worth the $30 a month. I think the RTHUD I was using on Stars will work for widows XP users on FTP, but it doesn't work with Vista. The low stakes version of Hold'em Manager is only $55 and I highly recommend it.
If you are currently using PokerTracker3 it may not be worth it for most smaller bankroll players to buy Hold'em Manager as well. PT3 is a very similar program. I own the both and I am only using Hold'em Manager for sng's because I like the HUD set up a little better and because it doesn't put a little symbol at the top of my table where I have my M and the number of players left displayed and muck things up. I have no idea why PT3 does that, they must know it's going to annoy people.
After working on it for a few hours, I think have my final setup. I'm using a very simple FTP skin, I think it's one that Hatfield made me a while back, I've been using the same one for at last a year. It doesn't have avatars, a table, shadows, nothing but player names and stack sizes on a green background. I also have the aforementioned Sharkscope HUD nad HM running for stats, and I only use the icons from the sharkscope HUD because there isn't enough room for the stats without adding too much clutter. I can always grab the stats very quickly from the HUD just by clicking on the player's name anyway.
I use Full Tilt Shortcuts to help with simple tasks like opening sng's automatically, displaying my M and the number of players that remain, tieing the slider bar for betting to my mouse wheel, and automatically activating a table when the mouse moves over it so I never have to double click.
I play with my tables tiled, and I use Full Tilt Planner for that, a really slick little program that puts the tables where I want them and keeps them there.
I use Table Highlighter as well, another free AHK script, and it displays a flashing red bar at the top of a table when that table needs my attention. With Table Highlighter I very rarely if ever end up timing out.
With those programs running, each table looks like this -
The stats displayed in blue are from Hold'em Mnager, and the are from left to right - VP$IP (Voluntarily Put $ In Preflop), PFR (PreFlop Raise percentage), Steal frequency, AF (Aggression Factor), W$SD (Won Showdwon percentage), and total hands tracked. The little notepad on the left of each player's stats is a one click note taking area.
The little symbol next to each player's name is the icon from sharkscope indicating how good their sharkscope stats are. Those are customizable within the HUD.

You can find info about making your own skins and some free places to download them at the following links

tiltbuster.com has some FTP themes for sale as well, but the free ones in the first two links are just as good.
