I Can Almost Smell Full Tilt Dollars

It looks like there may finally be a hint of daylight at the end of the Full Tilt Poker tunnel.  At least as far as getting our money back.  With the Tapie Group deal done, now enter Poker Stars into the mix.  The rumors are that they are in negotiations with the US DOJ, trying to buy Full Tilt.  Furthermore, (and this is the good part) the rumor is that they are trying to pay back Full Tilt player balances. 
 
This is probably the best news the players have received since Black Friday with respect to receiving our money from Full Tilt.  Nothing's set in stone yet - Stars has only confirmed they are in negotiation with the DOJ.  So I won't be spending those dollars until I see them.  While I have no idea of the timeframe, I do feel fairly confident that Stars will take care of things in a timely manner if/when a deal is complete.  I just checked my records from last year and I received my Stars balance on April 28.  Not too bad I guess.  Now if we can just get Stars to compensate us fully for the FTP points balances in our accounts.  Yes I like to have my cake and eat it too.
 
As for why Poker Stars may be spending half a billion to get its hand on Full Tilt?  I suspect the main reason is to make right with the US DOJ and get the go ahead to operate within the US if/when the US ever decides to legislate online poker.  I'm not as optimistic as Gutshtallin that I'll be playing on Stars in December, but I'd love to be wrong on that one.
 
In the meantime, Poker Stars will eliminate its biggest potential threat competition-wise for the rest of the world market share.  It's hard to see anybody knocking down Stars any pegs any time soon.  But then again, a lot of people assumed that Planet, Paradise and Party would each remain the big dog of online poker in the past.  So who knows?
