WSOP
Thursday, May 31st 2012 6:51 pm

I leave for Las Vegas in about 17 hours and this will be my second time at the WSOP. My first trip was back in 2010 where I managed a respectable $14k score and 33rd place in the $3K Triple Chance event. And although I don't usually care about what happens after I bust an event, in that event I actually went back and watched the entire final table. For those that may not know or don't remember, this was the event that was won by PXF's own Ryan Welch.

I didn't know Ryan that well at the time, it was the first time I was meeting him in person actually, but I had hired him to work for PXF and it was really cool to see him take home the gold. He had a star studded group of railbirds inlcuding two future PXF instructors that I hired - Frank Jordan and James Carroll. Needless to say, it was a pretty cool experience.

It was at that same WSOP that I finally met Fox, Jerry Payne, Alex, Dave D, Kevin Saul, Dan Martin and PXF legend JohnnyBax after months/years of dealing with them over the phone/PC.. And I can't forget about drinking beers all weekend with PXF Forum Mod dreday227!

Now two years later, I am looking forward to hanging with Ryan and everyone else plus meeting up with other PXF instructors and subscribers who I don't know yet. I am prepared to play as many as 11 events in 13 days but hopefully luck will be on my side and I will have to play fewer events due to deep runs and Day 2s and 3s. A few days ago, I wasn't excited. But after seeing the updates rolling in on Pokernews and watching the streaming coverage of Event 2 where Brent Hanks won his first bracelet yesterday, I can say that has all changed.

It's time to make some new WSOP memories.....better make sure that luggage is under 50 lbs before morning!
